God gave Joseph a dreamGenesis 37:5-11 Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. {6} So he said to them, "Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: {7} "There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf." {8} And his brothers said to him, "Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?" So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. {9} Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, "Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me." {10} So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, "What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?" {11} And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying. His envious brothers kidnapped him and sold him into slaverySo Judah said to his brothers, "What profit is there if we kill our brother and
conceal his blood? Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites. . . . And his brothers
listened. Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted
him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they
took Joseph to Egypt. God had planned it this wayGenesis 45:5-8 "But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. {6} "For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. {7} "And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. {8} "So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Genesis 50:20 "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. God predestines evil so that good may come2 Samuel 17:14 So Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel." For the LORD had purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring disaster on Absalom. Isaiah 10:6-7 I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets. {7} Yet he does not mean so, Nor does his heart think so; But it is in his heart to destroy, And cut off not a few nations. Isaiah 46:10-11 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' {11} Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. Acts 2:23 "Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; Acts 3:18 "But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets,
