Advice to Tekton

Hi Tekton! (and anyone else who's reading!!)

I didn't want to take up a whole lotta space on North's Forum, so here's my advice.

Caveat emptor: I don't know anything at all about your situation. I don't know anything about your red-neck enemy. I could be giving you completely bogus adivce, advice I would not give you if I knew more details about your situation. What you need is not advice so much as wisdom and faithfulness. You need to discern the character of your enemy and then faithfully carry out God's commandments WRT this enemy.

In a nutshell, my advice is to "love your enemy." Jesus' command to "make friends" came to my mind. So I found that verse on my computer Bible and here are all the cross references that popped up.

Luke 16:9 "And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.

Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Proverbs 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days.

Isaiah 58:7-8 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? {8} Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

Daniel 4:27 Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity."

Luke 11:41 "But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

Luke 14:14 "And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

Matthew 6:19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Matthew 25:35-40 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; {36} 'I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' {37} "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? {38} 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? {39} 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' {40} "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

Acts 10:4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

Acts 10:31 "and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.

2 Corinthians 9:12-15 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, {13} while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, {14} and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. {15} Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. {18} Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, {19} storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

2 Timothy 1:16-18 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; {17} but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. {18} The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day; and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus.
