The Hidden Agenda of
The "Separation of Church and State"
|| 1 || 2 || 3 || 4 || Part 5 ||

The Separationists finally get to the bottom line.
Why did we create this web page? To arrest progress toward making America a Christian Nation again.
We've created this page because we believe that the principle of separation of church and state is under attack in America as never before. Since the early 1980s the religious right have talked openly of getting rid of separation. . We are worried about their influence, and we want to inform the public about the threat they pose to our religious liberties. Recall the 7 features of an "establishment of religion." Which of these seven features is the Religious Right attempting to resurrect?

In truth, not a single one.

Here's what the separationists are really afraid of:

Consider the following:  Last year the religious right tried their best to pass two Constitutional Amendments that would have reempowered government to require prayer in the public schools . . . . One state (Wisconsin) has approved an experimental voucher program that would funnel government money directly to religious schools. The American Library Association reports that attempts to ban books from public and school libraries has increased dramatically in the past few years, and that about two thirds of these attempts originate with the religious right.
  1. Students who don't shoot each other because they fear God and obey His commandments.
  2. Parents who do not have to pay to have their children indoctrinated in the religion of Secular Humanism, and who do not have to pay twice to have their children educated in the religion of Christianity.
  3. Parents who can control the education of their children, instead of having it controlled by Secular Humanists.
    Note:  when Christians attempt to stem the rising tide of pro-homosexuality, pro-death books being introduced into school libraries, it's called "censorship," but when Secular Humanists try to get books by and about the Christian virtues of our Founding Fathers out of schools, that's approved by Secular Humanist bureaucrats: such books represent an "establishment of religion" they say.
Finally, we note that the right has stepped up their presence in the church/state debate with the founding of both the Christian Coalition and several well-funded legal advocacy groups (eg., the Rutherford Institute, the American Center for Law and Justice). Never before have so much money and manpower been assembled to break down the wall of separation that lies at the heart of the First Amendment. These legal advocacy groups are chiefly designed to secure the rights of free expression when those rights are denied by Secular Humanists against Christians. These groups never go to court to attempt to force an atheist to believe anything.

The "wall of separation" is a myth.

It is time for a call to arms.

We see this page as a wake-up call to anyone that is concerned about the political and legal influence of the religious right. We want to confront the right on the most basic element in their political gospel, their belief that

the First Amendment did nothing but bar the establishment of a state church and that anything short of that--school prayer, school vouchers, preferential treatment of religion in public affairs, imposition of religion doctrine by force--is Constitutional.

Additionally, we want to urge everyone from the committed separationist to the fence-sitter to get up and become active in fighting for religious liberty. The First Amendment is at stake. Don't wait until it's gone before you get involved.

The fact is the First Amendment did nothing but bar the establishment of a state church. It did not ban
  • school prayer -- that didn't happen until 1962;
  • parental control over education -- the Founders never dreamed that parents would be forced by law to send their children to atheistic schools when they would rather send their children to schools which taught "religion, morality, and knowledge."
  • preferential treatment of religion and virtue over irreligion and lawlessness. Every single person who signed the Constitution believed that religion was the foundation of our Republic.

Separationists seek to overthrow a Christian nation and impose atheism, homosexuality, abortion, and lawlessness on our culture.

A "wake-up call" indeed.
