Vine & Fig Tree's
Path to

Because the Bible says to meditate:

My delight is in the Law of the LORD; and in His Law I meditate day and night. Psalm 1:2

O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Psalm 119:97

I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. Psalm 119:99

I believe the Bible when it says that success and Godliness come through meditation.

Joshua 1:8
This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I believe God's promises. I am a man after God's own heart, so I can say with the psalm-writer,

Psalm 119:11 Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Psalm 119:15 I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy Word.

Psalm 119:55 I have remembered Thy Name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept Thy Law. (cf. Ps. 138:2)

Psalm 119:48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Psalm 119:78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

Psalm 119:148 Mine eyes are awake through the night watches, that I might meditate in Thy Word.

Psalm 119:97 O how love I Thy Law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through Thy Commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy Testimonies are my meditation.

Tragically, I do not have many role models. There are very few people who understand the importance of meditation and practice it in their daily lives. The only people who practice a form of meditation today are covetous New Agers, but they don't believe in God or in His Word, the Bible. But I will not be intimidated. I just have to go back directly to the Apostle Paul who commanded Timothy,

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. (I Tim. 4:15)

I will not distance myself from the truth merely because there are unscrupulous imitators.

My meditations on God's Law are vows to keep me walking in the way of the Lord. They are an autobiography in progress.

I believe that

  1. Disciplined, daily meditation
  2. on the right subjects,
  3. in the manner of Godly men in the Bible
  4. produces Godly living
  5. which will be blessed.

Therefore, my biography has the following characteristics:

  1. It is a source of daily reading, because
  2. It is based on the Bible, the Word of God;
  3. I am willing to act out this biography in "real life" no matter where that takes me, even if that means moving to the unknown and losing all my possessions:

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you."

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

Hebrews 10:34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.

  4. Because God promises to bless my meditation with success, I am willing to assume responsibilities as a steward over great assets; to be "rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold" (Genesis 13:2).
