MEDITATION AND CONFORMITY TO CHRIST
My goal in life is to be conformed to the Image of Christ.
And we know that all things work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. {29} For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the
image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. {30}
Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He
called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Romans 8:28-30
According as He hath chosen us in Him before the
foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:
Ephesians 1:4
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for
good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10
till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the
fullness of Christ;
Ephesians 4:13
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2
I want to succeed in this goal. Christ was perfectly obedient to God's Law. The Bible
says that if I want to be like Christ, I must meditate on God's Law. If I do this I will
"re-program" bad habits. I will develop Godly discipline. Then I will succeed in
my goal.
Sounds impossible; but God's Word promises success:
This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that
is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have
good success.
- Joshua 1:8
When I reject "baalism"
(the idea that my life is determined by impersonal "natural" forces) and embrace
Total Predestination (the idea that a
personal God created me and calls me in Christ by His Spirit), I begin to understand how
the human mind can be "re-programmed" to become more like Christ instead of more
like the trendsetters of Empire (Romans 12:1-2).
