Actually the constitution provides for freedom from religion. That is a
reason to celebrate. The dictatorship of faith and force was not present in
America.

Don't you ever, ever, ever write to me again. This was unsolicited hate mail
as far as I am concerned, and I have reported it to the AOL authorities.
NEVER WRITE ME AGAIN. TO DO SO MAY BE A VIOLATION OF STATE AND FEDERAL
STALKING LAWS.

Your AOL personal profile indicated you had some interest in
the U.S. Constitution or Declaration of Independence, hence
my invitation to dialogue.
I think Thomas Jefferson would have agreed with the point I
made on my web page, but even if he disagreed, I'm sure
he would have done so graciously and in the process would
haved shared his tremedous wisdom with me.
I sent you my e-mail in the hopes of dialogue and shared
wisdom. I have removed your name from my list, but would be
happy to correspond with you if you should write me back.
I apologize for any distress I may have caused you.

The seperation of chuch and state is the most corrupted of all the
Ideals set forth by our founding Fathers. Todays religous groups are for the
most part self centered hypocrytes who don't deserve the exclusions given to
them and consistently whine about the priveleges they don't receive yet think
they deserve.
Seperation of church and states allows all religous ideals (even those you
may not agree with) a place in society. However too many religous groups have
a lobby in our government creating a double standard. If they don't want
governmental control imposed on them they should stop trying to control the
government.
I place a great deal of reverance and respect on our founding fathers
and July 4th is an important holiday in my life. For the past 11 years I have
served this country in combat environments in S.America, the Middle East,
North Africa and Europe. I have risked my life in the defense of the ideals
of this country. Ideals which allows you to express your opinions how you see
fit. Please do not pomote your anti-American veiws to me or any of those
people who were willing to give their life so that you have that freedom.
Also remove my name from any of your mailing lists . I wish for no further

I agree. I have not attended a "church service" in over 10 years and
am not a member of any religious denomination.
I am a Christian, however, and I'm not sure you understand what
the founding fathers taught about Christianity. You might like
to check out the quotes from the Founding Fathers which I have
posted on the following web page:

I, for one, disagree. The founding fathers were all religious men, but they
recognized the need to separate religion from government based precisely on
the deeds of what you call a "God-honoring Christian society" which enjoyed
the cutting off of the tongues of dissenters and other such lovely things.
You say that a dictatorship was chosen over this. A dictatorship was
precisely what was left behind. No, worse than a dictatorship; a monarchy in
which the king was supposed to be ruler by divine right, thereby making his
commandments akin to dictum from God himself, and any opposition nothing
short of heresy. People deserve to choose their religion freely. Many of
those men and many since have died to preserve the fundamental rights of an
individual to choose his or her own path, to think their own thoughts and to
worship or not worship as they choose. My father was among those who gave
his life for that ideal, and I resent the insult you thrust upon him (he was,
by the way, a profoundly religious man). This quote is in my profile, but I
offer it here for the sake of clarity as to what this day, this celebration
of the birthday of American society and the land of the FREE, means to me and
to all opponents of the policing of thought:
"I may disagree with what you say, but I will
defend to the death YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT."
-Voltaire-
It's always saddened me to think that it took a Frenchman to so
perfectly state the noble ideal upon which this country was founded, and away
from which the ignorant and intolerant would choose to take us. Thank you
for exercising your freedom to express your thoughts, and for perusing the
expression of mine.
Matt Vincent
p.s. -- Should you truly want a religion-centered society, explore some of
the other shining examples of the past and present where religion was/is a
forced issue -- Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Spain of the Inquisition, the "bleeding
heart" Aztecs, and oh yes, the civilization of the ancient Roman Empire,
which Christ called home. Wonderful places, as long as your thoughts
were/are in order. Cheers!

I don't believe this is accurate. All government is based on one
religion or another. Every law is an expression of "right" vs. "wrong"
and this is an expression of morality. Every morality is the
externalization of religion. All of the Founding Fathers agreed that
our laws should be based on Christianity. There are no exceptions.
