The Structure of the Book of RomansIn understanding Romans 13, it may be helpful to appreciate the overall structure and argument of the Apostle Paul in writing. Virtually all commentators see the letter divided into two sections: a dogmatic or more theological first half (chapters 1-11), and a more practical second half (chapters12-16). The second half of the letter describes the lifestyle of those who are the beneficiaries of the salvation described in the first half. |
