SEEKING AFTER GOD MEANS . . .

God reveals Himself through His names. The more we understand His names and relate them to the needs and fears of our lives, the more we will enjoy God.

I am aware that I am in a perpetual battle against the lusts

I realize that any law system that violates God's just
standards will bring judgment to the nations and individuals who follow them. I purpose to delight myself in the law of the Lord so that I can seek His kingdom and His righteousness justice) first. (See Matthew 6:33.) |
When Absolom rebelled against his father, David had to leave his home and city. David and his faithful followers fled over the Brook Kidron, up the Mount of Olives, into the plains of the wilderness of Judah, and finally over the Jordan River. It was during this time of rejection, disgrace, public humiliation, lack of provisions, and an uncertain future that David wrote the twenty-third Psalm. The calamity of his circumstances adds majesty and meaning to the picture of God as our shepherd. |
I have purposed to accept my present circumstances as
an opportunity for God to be my shepherd. My concern will not be for my reputation, but "for His name's sake." I will rejoice in God's chastening as an evidence of His love and presence. I will trust God to provide my daily needs. |
During the time and ministry of Exekiel, God revealed the future restoration of Israel. In one of his visions, Ezekiel described the city of Jehovah. In that coming day when God sets up His Kingdom and He Himself dwells in Jerusalem, the new ~ name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there" (Ezekiel 48:35). |
I realize that loneliness results when I try to
arrange circumstances around my goals rather chan for God's glory. When times of discouragement and disappointment come, I will remember that I am an important part of a much larger program and that my trials are not worthy to be compared to the future glory that God will give. |
