Our discussion was recently added to the "Sociology at Large" page, which neither endorses nor repudiates our view, nor other definitions which it lists. One of the definitions found there includes as "family" "any sexually expressive relationship."[*]
It should be clear that we are not "unbiased" and "objective" sociologists.

* The author of the "Sociologist at Large" website has graciously written to us with his concerns that his own views (he believes incest and bestiality cannot be the basis of a legitimate "family") are not misrepresented by a definition included on his page which does not reflect his own personal views:

As a side bar ~~ my PERSONAL belief system ( I am a Christian ) does not approve of same-sex marriages. I have chosen a profession of sociology and as a result, I must grapple with contemporary issues and social realities on two separate plains -- PROFESSIONALLY and PERSONALLY. My inclusion of the same-sex debate was done so strictly due to the demands of my profession and the social reality that they exist. It is difficult at times for many sociologists and other professionals in similar fields to balance the demands of their profession with their personal beliefs. My approval or disapproval of same-sex marriage and other social phenomena is irrelevant to my responsibility as a sociologist to present all angles of any issue for individuals to draw their own conclusions and convictions.
