MY HOUSEHOLD

Sarah was no feminist. Feminists seem to want "equality" with modern men. What a mistake. Sarah was content being a noble woman, subordinate to a great man.

1 Peter 3:1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, {2} when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. {3} Do not let your adornment be merely outward; arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel; {4} rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. {5} For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, {6} as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.

Feminists wouldn't call anyone "lord."

In a sense, feminists are right: women are put down, and need to be free. But feminists are wrong in blaming that on the Bible. Had they been following the Bible, they would be powerful, noble women, like Sarah. As it is, they have moved us from a Biblical culture to an impersonalist industrialist culture where all - including women - are slaves. James B. Jordan notes the descent into slavery:

Perhaps just one interesting note here. Apparently the free Israelite woman, with her mohar [dowery, or bride money] had quite a bit of "independence" from her husband. This money would be her insurance policy, in case her husband died or divorced her (and so it is not the same as an insurance policy today). Also, however, it was money she could use and invest. It seems most likely that the money the woman in Proverbs 31:26 is using is her own money, not that of her husband (though perhaps it is money he has entrusted to her). Thus, if the husband were something of a fool when it came to money, the wife had her own which she could invest wisely to care for herself and her children.

Modern American Christian women are often more in the position of slave wives than of free ones, according to the Bible. They seldom have their own separate money. In the proper "Christian" home of today, the husband has all financial control. He has not provided his wife with money at marriage, nor later on (though he may adorn her with jewelry, which is hers to keep). If she takes a job, it is assumed that he will have ultimate say-so over the spending of her money. The Biblical marriage, however, while it may appear to entail more tension and negotiation between husband and wife, also produces people who are much more mature.

Sarah subordinated herself to her husband, Abraham.

Modern feminist wives will not subordinate themselves to their husbands.

And in a sense, who can blame them?

Modern men will not subordinate themselves to God. They want to be their own god. As a result, they are slaves.

1 Corinthians 11:3  But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. {8} For man is not from woman, but woman from man. {9} Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. {10} For this reason the woman ought to have power on her head, because of the angels.

Men who believe they are created in the Image of God and are given dominion over their earth, are men who are following God, walking in His paths, and are a force for justice and the spread of God's blessings over their earth.

Men who believe they are the randomly mutated descendants of some primordial sludge, over whom the impersonal forces of nature have Dominion, are lost, walking in the downwardly spiraling circles of Hollywood trends and government edicts, and are a force for oppression or self-pity, and merely consume and pollute the garden.

Who would want to be subordinate to a loser like this?

And yet, unbelievably, modern feminists want "equality" with these losers!

Sarah realized that her greatness, her nobility, came from her husband, whose greatness and nobility in turn came from God.

Modern man seeks to be his own god. He has no greatness, no nobility. Note the contrasts:

Abraham Modern Man
Faithful Spiritually devoid
Intelligent

public school illiterate

Hospitable consumerist
 Dynamic couch potato
 Energy-giver dependent, depressed
Property Owner pays mortgage to banks, corporations, which own all property
Stand Against Empire trendoid; follows crowd;
feels lost without "designer label"
votes for "winner," not principle
Father of nations sterile; passes on no inheritance

Pretty sad. Jesus said he who would be great must be least, that is, must be willing to subordinate himself to God.

Women must reject the feminist path to godhead.

Do you want to be subordinate to a great man, or equal to a fool?
