I have just read, Religion, Pluralism and Public Life, ed Luis E
Lugo, Eeerdmans, 2000, a collection of papers on Abraham Kuyper's
Legacy for the 21st century.

It is a curate's egg, but the good parts are IMO outnumbered by the
poor. The trouble with academics is that they, unlike Kuyper, are not
inhabitants of the real world. I looked in vain for any practical
political lessons to be learned from these papers. There was nothing
helpful about how Kuyper speaks to a world where the public square
wants to espouse multiculturalism and ban all religious discourse to
the private domain. There was nothing on religion and state in a
pluralist world.

An once of Kuyper is worth a pound of writing about him. I got far
more edification from the first article in Abraham Kuyper, A
Centennial Reader, ed James A Bratt. Uniformity: The Curse of Modern
Life is a masterpiece. I really think AK would have been as opposed
to the EU as I am.
