Kill Your Old Man!
"Recovery" According to God's Law

The Bible says we are to "put to death" our "old man" and "put on the new man."

The first step in becoming more like Christ is crucifying our "old man."

You should have already explored the sovereignty of God. You should have learned that Jesus is no wimpy, mild-mannered flower-child. Jesus destroyed Jerusalem and her glorious temple in a fiery act of judgment against her religious hypocrisy and political oppression. That sword of vengeance hangs over each of us unless we thoroughly repudiate our old ways and embrace new life in Christ.

There is no "5-steps to a happy Christian life" which can make us "more like Christ in 14-days!" It takes years of daily work. The Bible is full of "treasures of wisdom" -- more than any of us can understand in our lifetime. The path to success and happiness is to take the next step; to do whatever your conscience says you should be doing. There are thus many places to start. But anyone who really wants to end a life of lies, hatred, restlessness, or lust must begin the journey with the guidance of many counselors.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Proverbs 11:14

Our favorite source for counsel on killing the old man and putting on the New, is the Institute in Basic Life Principles. Other people have been helped by the "12-steps" of Alcoholics Anonymous (which are not really just 12 easy steps, but a program for the rest of your life).

Our program combines features from these and other programs. Here is our plan to recover from the effects of our old man, and when the old man has been repudiated, we may then develop the character of Christ.
