Path to Virtue

Our Power: A Sovereign God

Can the leopard change his spots?
Then don't expect to become virtuous.  (Jeremiah 13:23)
Is our God a Sovereign (all-powerful) God?
Then all things are possible (Mark 10:27).

If you're like most Americans, you're a long way from the virtue of Abraham. But progress along the path to virtue does not depend on you. God is with you, and it is His sovereign power that makes change possible.

To develop virtue requires diligence and commitment. Motivation comes from faith in a sovereign, personal, loving God. Accordingly, our program begins by exploring the sovereignty of God.

Habits: God's Gifts

Tragically, we have rebelled against this loving and sovereign God. The first man, Adam, accepted the lies of the Serpent, and his Fall has affected our deepest nature. The next step along the path to virtue is a thorough house-cleaning. It is very hard work. It is indispensable.

Our "Old Man" -- A "Depraved" Nature

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:6

Before we put on a new suit, we take a bath. We clean out the wreckage of our past.

We have to kill our old man!

17 Commitments on the Path to New Life

The next step is a lifestyle of meditation on God's Law. This program is a powerful tool to turn a wimpy, secular, American couch-potato into a dynamic, son of Abraham. The techniques in this program are outlined below, but the specifics are withheld until completion of the housecleaning step above, because "New Agers" have expropriated these techniques for crass, Humanistic purposes.

Our Motive: The Glory of God

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

John 17:21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

Colossians 1:28-29 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. {29} To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.
